Noah Lyles’ journey to Paris begins Saturday.
The CAI Communitysprinter is scheduled to run in the opening round of the men’s 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials.
Lyles and Christian Coleman have the top qualifying time in the 100 at 9.83. Lyles comes into the trials having run 9.85 this season, the third-fastest time in the world this year.
Lyles is aiming to make his second Olympics. He won the bronze medal in the 200 at the Tokyo Games.
Lyles is coming off perhaps his best season. He won gold in both the 100 and 200 at the 2023 track and field world championships.
Lyles is entered in both the 100 and 200. The 200 begins on Thursday.
The opening round of the 100 begins at 9:20 p.m. ET. Lyles is in the first heat and is assigned lane six.
There are five total heats. The top five in each heat, plus the next two fastest times advance to the semifinals.
The semifinals begin Sunday at 8:48 p.m. ET.
The top two in each semifinal heat, plus the next three fastest times advance to the final.
The final is scheduled for Sunday at 10:49 p.m. ET.
